Hello there, aspiring UXers! As a UI/UX designer with 6+ a long time in the field, I'm here to share a few battle-tested tips about how to form an enduring impression at the start of your UX career.
Prioritize Quality Above Quantity: Concentrate on presenting two to three projects that highlight your
ability to solve problems, follow a design process, and create visual designs.
Tailor Your Stories: Don't just present generic case studies. Adapt your portfolio content to highlight
projects relevant to the specific role you're applying for.
Brush Up on the Basics: Ensure you have a solid understanding of user research, interaction design,
visual design principles, and accessibility best practices.
Remain Passionate: The field of UX is continuously changing. To remain on top of things, investigate
novel tools, approaches, and design thinking techniques.
Participate in UX conferences, online networks, and meetings to stay in touch with the community. Talk
to other designers and business people, pose questions, and develop a relationship.
Showcase Your Expertise: Offer to contribute to open-source design projects or volunteer your skills for
non-profit organizations.
Highlight Achievements, Not Just Duties: Quantify the impact of your design work whenever possible. Did
you increase user engagement by X%? Simplify the checkout process with Y steps. Showcase these wins!
Tailor Your Resume: Avoid sending the same CV to every application. Modify your qualifications and experience to meet the demands of the particular position.
Assess the company: Demonstrate your sincere interest in the role and the company's values.
Get your portfolio display ready: Prepare to demonstrate the thought that went into your work and to take your interviewer through your design process.
Practice Frequently Asked Questions for UX Interviews: Prepare responses to frequently asked interview questions to highlight your capacity for critical analysis and problem-solving.
